Former pastor indicted again on kidnapping charge
- January 11, 2011
A former pastor and principal of a Moberly Christian school has been indicted on a charge of kidnapping for allegedly taking a 16-year-old girl to a Columbia hotel in 2008.
James M. Wilson, 44, is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in Randolph County. He was indicted Dec. 16 on suspicion of kidnapping.
Wilson was acquitted of child molestation in June 2009. In a trial in Boone County, Associate Circuit Judge Larry Bryson ruled certain aspects of the girl’s testimony were not credible.
Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney Mike Fusselman dropped the kidnapping charge in November 2009 instead of going to trial when his motion for continuance was denied. The kidnapping charge was filed again in March and has resulted in the Dec. 16 indictment.
Wilson, former principal of Terrill Road Christian Academy in Moberly, is accused of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl from the school and taking her to a Columbia hotel in May 2008.
The indictment alleges Wilson’s intent was to perform second-degree statutory sodomy or second-degree statutory rape. The victim might have been targeted because she had the mental capability of a third-grader at the time, according to court documents.
Wilson also allegedly took the teen to Macon and Salisbury for lunch during school.
