LIVINGSTON — Deputies booked one of the seven defendants in the Hosanna Church child molestation case on an unrelated aggravated rape count, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed Wednesday.
Allen R. Pierson of 27953 Red Oak Road in Livingston was booked in a case involving a juvenile victim, according to the District Attorney’s Office for the 21st Judicial District.
The female victim was 11 at the time of the incident in 1982, said Don Wall, who is the main prosecutor in the Hosanna case.
Pierson was indicted Tuesday by a Livingston Parish grand jury, according to records from the Livingston Parish Clerk of Court.
Pierson already faces charges in the Hosanna Church case in Tangipahoa Parish, Wall said.
The only connection to the Hosanna case is that information about the 1982 incident “came to light as part of the Hosanna investigation,” the prosecutor said.
Pierson had been free on bond in Tangipahoa Parish, where he faces aggravated rape charges along with several other members of the now- defunct Hosanna Church in Ponchatoula.
He is one of seven former members of the church indicted in 2005 after allegations that some members of the church sexually assaulted children.
The former pastor of that church, Louis D. Lamonica, was convicted in September of four counts of aggravated rape and subsequently sentenced to serve four concurrent life sentences.
Last year, a jury convicted another former member of the church of raping three children. Austin “Trey” Bernard III is serving a life sentence at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola as a result of that conviction.
