Pastor’s Wife Arrested

- February 25, 2009

Campbell Co., VA – Church members in Campbell County are rallying around their preacher and his wife since she was arrested on a drug charge. Deputies say 47-year-old Rebecca Greene gave a drug to a student at Clearview Christian School, which is run by the church. We  spoke with the pastor and it doesn’t sound good, but he says there’s more to this story, and his wife was only trying to help. Dr. Wayne Green tells us the student was extremely upset, so her father told Rebecca Green to give her something to calm her down and she gave half of a five milligram valium to the student. We’ve learned the congregation was told of the criminal charges last weekend. Social Services brought the charges after learning of it while interviewing the child on an unrelated matter. So far, no one has withdrawn their children from the school. In fact, everyone we spoke to is sticking by the Greenes. Laverne Tweedy, Clearview Christian School Parent – “She would never harm anybody, her or Doctor Greene would never harm any student or any child or family member or anything. They are wonderful people.” Angela Moore, Clearview Christian School Parent – “No. I’m not concerned at all about my child coming here. I’m very happy she is here. She is safe when she is here.” Pastor Greene has issued a statement. In it, he said “All we’re guilty of is helping a grieving father and a grieving little girl. And breaking a law that we didn’t even know existed.” Doctor Greene also says that despite rumors the school has no plans to close and he has no plans of stepping down.
