Pastor Resigns After Beating By Former Church Member

ELLISVILLE, MS (WLBT) – The pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Ellisville has resigned, saying the drama surrounding his beating two months ago has been too much for his family.
Pastor Steve Nixon was beaten with an airhose by former church member Michael Clark in August.
Clark claimed the preacher text messaged his wife. Clark and two others were arrested, but only Clark still faces aggravated assault charges.
Clark publicly apologized to Nixon last week, and Nixon said he accepted the apology.
Now, Nixon has given two weeks notice to the church. He says no one asked him to resign.
