- October 23, 2008
A former priest in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia has been charged in New York City with e-mailing pornographic videos to a Colorado detective posing as a 14-year-old.
An announcement concerning the charges against the Rev. Charles T. Plock was distributed in the four parishes in which Plock served during his time in Philadelphia, from September 1996 to December 2000.
Plock, 63, a youth minister at St. John’s University, was arrested this month and arraigned in Queens Criminal Court. He was released on $150,000 bail on condition that he check into St. John Vianney Center, a psychiatric facility for the clergy in Downingtown.
As part of an online sting operation, police in Adams County, Colo., traced the e-mail to St. John’s. New York police investigators reportedly seized Plock’s computers along with the homemade footage.
In Philadelphia, Plock was a member of the Hispanic Evangelization Team and was in residence at Immaculate Conception Parish at Price and Ardleigh Streets. As a member of that team, he participated in ministry at Ascension of Our Lord, St. Joachim, Our Lady of Hope and St. Helena Churches.
